MICROENCAPSULATED FEEDINGS OF CAPTIVE CORALS

I have completed my Master of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics from Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, Victoria. I did my internship in Nusealab(450hr) as a part of my curriculum. And I am currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the same university with the topic, "Microencapsulated Feeds for Captive Corals".

MICROENCAPSULATED FEEDINGS OF CAPTIVE CORALS

2022 to 2025

Project Description

a. Implement aquaria-based feeding trials centered around the newly developed diets, with manipulation of environmental factors (e.g., temperature, pathogen exposure) as an additional variable; and
b. Perform subsequent analyses to assess how diets influence the survival, growth, development, health (nutritional status, microbial profiles), and resilience of coral recruits and fragments.

Project Importance

Corals in Great Barrier Beef possess great historical importance to the ocean ecosystem, as well as Australia. Due to the rise in temperature, rapidly increasing pollution and human activities in the ocean, the coral's ecosystem is under extreme threat. So we are experimenting on corals with different diets expecting to have some positive results, that can ultimately be used to protect the corals.

Project Methods

Basically, after the diets are given for a certain time period, we do check the total nutritional values such as lipid profile, protein analysis,e.t.c, so that we can compare how is the diet making a positive change to corals.

Project Results

The project just started, so we couldn't say anything at the moment. We are hoping to have great positive results with better efficiency.
